Principles of Art and Laziness

In this world of art, there are lots of rules and principle that justify the beauty of an art. From the classical renaissance painting to modern art, I think hundreds of formula can be derived and used to make a compelling art, or can they guarantee you to make a piece of art?

Lets talk about beauty, and I say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one could tell whether the art is beautiful or not based on their feelings, without knowing the rules and principles of art. So the question is, do we really need those formula to make an art? Since most people are not judging your art by the principle, why do we need them?

Typical response you might get is 'to break the rules you must first know them'. But I believe we should look further than the rules we are talking about, because art is justify by raw feelings and thus it should be looked that way. Why even bother the principles to judge an art?

By the time you read to this line, I believe some of you may or may not see eye to eye with me. Even so, I still, at this point, believe that these principles are for us to solve our problem in our art but the justification of the beauty of our art should be made by our feelings not the principles. Don't let the principles guide you, let your heart feels your art. :) Tell me what you think about this.

"People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals; That is, goals that do not inspire them." by Anthony Robbins.

I just feel that I'm lazy and acting rebellious, showing dissatisfaction, I know how to improve myself but I just disagree with some of their ideals. If by any chance you think I don't get you, explain it to me, because that's the very reason I say it.

chillax man, art is truly subjective ; I understand the dilemma or merely, this feeling that you're going through.

I thought like you back then, why bother with principles and rules in art? Thing is, to break them you must 1st prove your point. I have a photographer friend who just won't bother with kick-light, because he actually wants that. Knowing which principle u want and do not want is also vital in building identity.

There is no right or wrong in art, just a personal preference ; but don't do this for clients, some of them want to be art-savvy so they tend to use rules & principles when judging your work. So use with caution. bzzt bzzt! But then again, we're trained to be commercial artists and work-for-hire... @#%%$@#$! where's my dough?!
